What is MixEngine AI?

MixEngine AI is a VST3/AU plugin that analyzes your audio in real-time and provides intelligent mixing suggestions. It uses local AI (Ollama + RTNeural) so your audio never leaves your machine.

What DAWs are supported?

Any DAW that supports VST3 (Windows, macOS, Linux) or Audio Unit (macOS). This includes Cubase, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Studio One, Reaper, Pro Tools (via VST3), GarageBand, and more.

Does MixEngine AI require an internet connection?

No. All AI inference runs locally on your computer via Ollama and RTNeural. You only need internet for license activation (once every 30 days), downloading model updates, and cloud preset sync.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

Free gives you all analyzers, basic AI suggestions (EQ + Compression), up to 2 plugins in the effect chain, 5 genre presets, and 1 device. Pro unlocks unlimited plugin chain, send/return routing, parameter automation, all AI models, cloud preset sync, and 3 devices.

Is the Pro license a subscription?

No. Pro is a one-time purchase of €79. You get a perpetual license for the current major version (v1.x) including all minor updates and bug fixes. When a new major version (v2.x) is released, an upgrade is available for €39.

Can I use my license on multiple computers?

Free: 1 device. Pro: up to 3 devices. You can manage your active devices from the dashboard. Deactivate a device anytime to free up a slot.

What AI models are included?

Free includes Auto-EQ and Compressor Tuning models. Pro adds the Instrument Classifier (13 instruments) and Pan Suggestion model, plus the ability to select and download additional models from within the plugin settings.

Does MixEngine AI modify my audio?

Yes — with Pro, MixEngine AI acts as a full effect chain host. You can load VST3 plugins, set up send/return routing, and automate parameters. The AI suggestions can be applied directly or used as reference while mixing.

What about privacy?

Your audio stays on your machine. Ollama runs locally, RTNeural runs in the plugin's audio thread. We don't process, store, or transmit your audio. The only data sent to our servers is license verification and preset sync metadata.

What are the system requirements?

Windows 10/11 (64-bit) or macOS 10.15+. 8GB RAM minimum (16GB recommended for Ollama models). A GPU (NVIDIA/Apple Silicon) significantly speeds up AI inference but is not required.

Will AAX (Pro Tools) be supported?

AAX support is planned for a future major version. Currently, Pro Tools users can use the VST3 format if their version supports it.
